The Creative Writing Wiki that anyone can edit, since January 11th, 2005.

Novelas is a place where you can post all your works (and images), whether it be stories, poems, conworlds, or much more. Currently spanning 2,415 articles. As all wikis, the emphasis here is in collaboration.

Feel free to start new forum postings for your group discussions/polls and to leave messages on others' user talk pages for general communication. Any comments/ratings on any fictional work on this site should be placed in its discussion page and would be appreciated. The recent changes page shows all that people here have been working on lately; you should check it out often.

We hope you enjoy your stay. If you need any help just message a user, or use the Forum.

image file copyright/licensing information Edit

Please take the time to provide a hyperlink back to the source of images such as File:E62823575ad20eab680f7a8b4fb7abac.jpg. This page says that this particular image should be attributed to its creator. (wikia image help) --JWSchmidt 21:14, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

I already deleted the image from my text <-- does that mean I can just delete the image page? --JWSchmidt 21:46, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

No way, just said I just deleted it from my text, I don't know how to delete it from the image page (and I think I cannot) The Valader, Talk//Contributions 21:59, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

organization Edit

"Could you please help me with organization of chapters and other content for my novel..." <-- I have some personal preferences for how to organize the content of a "wiki novel", but my approach amounts to little more than some habits that I have fallen into. I'm not sure that my suggestions can really "help" you...much depends on your preferences and how much patience you have with the MediaWiki software. I took a quick look at the pages of your story. My first suggestion is to create and use Category:Oda'eaa for all the pages of the story. I see that you already have some familiarity with wiki categories. Another approach that I like is to provide a link at the bottom of each chapter to the next chapter. In my case, I always welcome collaborators and I like to make "meta pages", both to help me plan a novel and to facilitate collaboration. --JWSchmidt 02:54, January 12, 2010 (UTC)

featured fiction Edit

There are some "rules" listed at this page, but things are not very formal around here. We have previously featured some works before they were "complete". I'm not sure that "complete" means much in wiki format. The Start of Eternity is still very much under construction, and I've been wondering if we should have more categories of featured works such as "featured active collaboration" that could be a story that is still open to new collaborators. We are still figuring out how to do things around here. --JWSchmidt 01:12, January 15, 2010 (UTC)

story title Edit

"The Start of the Infinite" should be in the list of possible titles. I believe that Asimov was making reference to the idea that if humans could spread from Earth to other star systems then there would be some sort of infinite future for human descendants. When I think about "the start of infinity" I tend to think about the origin of the universe. One of the ideas that I want to include in the story is that the Huaoshy can perform engineering on the fundamental structure of Reality as described here. --JWSchmidt 15:53, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Archives Edit

listing stories in multiple archives <-- It makes sense to me that stories could appear in several of the "archive" lists. Novelas/Rules #5 says "archives". --JWSchmidt 19:06, February 12, 2010 (UTC)

page deleted Edit

I deleted the page as you requested. --JWSchmidt 00:22, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

At your request I deleted all the pages of the story. Let me know if/when you want them returned. --JWSchmidt 00:05, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
