Fiction Wikia, the place where you can write fiction.

[edit] Now It's a Mess
You totally came in and reorganized my story, Keep Me Whole Until Morning. I half finished the job by moving all the chapters to The first page. I am rapidly outgrowing this page, but it will last for a few more chapters. What I'll do after that who knows. I really liked my own system of oragnization better, but there must be some protocol I was violating.
What I need to do is get rid of the extra Hole2 and Hole/2, Hole3 and Hole/3 pages. (Everything was two chapters to a page.)
I also need to know how to make the table of conents stretch across multiple pages. The old Table of Contents I had was built for that. I'm not sure about this new one. (17:46, 28 August 2009 User:EileenK)
I did some thinking and decided that what I'll do about Hole/2 and Hole/3 (I did make a longer category but that is because the page names are short and a bit of a joke.) is wipe their contents as I outgrow Hole/1 and begin adding new chapters. This way I'll spare us both the cleanup.
I've decided to do eight chapters a page since that seems closer to some kind of norm. I'm projecting between fifty and a hundred (or more) chapaters for Keep Me Whole Until Morning. (02:23, 30 August 2009 User:EileenK)
[edit] reasons
2008-01-13T08:00:43 Serprex (Talk | contribs) deleted "Amoebas Have Feelings Too" (JWS left Novelas. As the only living left author of this, I call for DEATH. Now then, I believe that to make mass deleting less probable a proper reason for deletion should be supplied. And yes,"My reasons don't need logic" is a reason)
Maybe the "reason" is that you do not know what you are doing. Sysops should be deleting vandalism, not honest work from the wiki participants. Please return the page Amoebas Have Feelings Too. --JWSchmidt 00:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! Silly yet satisfying! --JWSchmidt 00:00, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- "Would you mind if I moved Amoebas to IHBOS"
- I'm not comfortable with either the destruction of user contributions or the failure to keep page histories associated with user contributions. Why not leave pages intact? If you want a page with many collected short pieces of fiction then you can copy from the original page, paste into the collection and provide a link back to the original page where the author history is intact. I don't think any user contribution can be "too short". --JWSchmidt 00:20, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] please undelete Guilds
2008-01-23T03:38:46 Serprex (Talk | contribs) deleted "Guilds" (Nobody even cared enough to give me the okay? Okay then)
I think guilds were a great idea. This "reason" for deleting the Guilds page makes no sense. Please undelete Guilds. --JWSchmidt 06:08, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Please delete all my pages
I am planning to make a publishing of all my stories, so they have to be unpublished, that includes this site. Also, I submitted some of them to a writing contest and they were doubting I was the author, because I had posted fragments of them to this site.
That said, I want you to delete all my stories (check Category:User/Davichito). Please help me with this, the prize of the contest and my future publication depends on this. I will learn in the future and will publish different things here; that is, things I will not send to a contest or publish. Thanks in advance. David 03:52, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Cthulhu
Why did you delete Cthulhu? Proxima Centauri 09:35, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
I think he did it because it is content for Wikipedia, I mean, it was not fiction. I think he said that on the summary of the deletion. (A news I wrote about an earthquake was deleted too for the same reason...) David 16:56, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Please delete
As I said, I am making an anthology of short stories so my stories should not be published here. Please delete all of them from Category:Pages_for_Deletion. My second ask for deletion of those, I really need them deleted for publication. Thanks in advance. David 17:00, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much. I can publish now. David 17:19, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] undelete request
2008-03-09T16:59:27 Serprex (Talk | contribs) deleted "Fire Fly" (Amazing how big these talks could get without any writing taking place)
Please undelete Fire Fly. I do not understand your deletion comment. I assume the page was essentially a plot outline or similar meta content. I am interested in the idea that we can we welcoming to story ideas and allow future editors to Complete the Stories. Page deletion is for vandalism, not honest efforts by wiki participants. --JWSchmidt 18:26, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Delete, again, the last time
Sorry to bother you again, but I noticed I had forgotten to put delete to many Brom pages. I just hope you delete all my pages in Category:Pages for deletion, for the last time. And goodbye to you, I moved to Ficciones. Thanks for all. David 18:13, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Hehe. The difference is that the content of Ficciones is Spanish mostly. Novelas, in spite of the name, is English mostly. And the best of all, we don't have a tyrannical bureaucrat here (just a mad one) David 19:32, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

2008-03-09T16:58:19 Serprex (Talk | contribs) deleted "Error Report Black" (Talk page can live on without the blank host)

[edit] Help
Is there a way to widen the page length so you could view a whole chart instead of half of a chart? User:ScottHudson
If you go to my page, it is any of the Stranded tables, except 6 and the two fiction BBs. User:ScottHudson
Look more closely at the FBB 2 chart, it was supposed to display 14 sections and it only displays 9. Also, parts of the Stranded charts are chopped off of the page. I need the page length repaired so I can see them without putting in a preview edit in Wikipedia. User:ScottHudson
These are the charts that I am talking about.

[edit] Thanks
Thank you for the message of encouragement and sorry it took this long to type in a reply. Kinda got caught in by the articles I read and being involved in getting in my two cents. LebART 00:58, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, also I noticed that some of the blank pages are titled as Brazilian soap operas. It's a pattern. A pattern that brings shame and sadness unto the heart of the Brazilian people. --Nonimportant 20:49, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Right, just as I posted that thing on Nonimportant's page, my dad came upstairs and told me my new computer had arrived. So yeah. Tell me, what's been happening since I crashed? Who's new, who left, who came back, etc... F.<話して~!!> 03:31, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Say, do you know much math and physics? If so, do you remember many of those formulae? Do you know what would be good Greek letter names for AI castes based on those formulae? For instance, calling the constructor caste Pi because they are AIs that build more AIs in a unending manner? Or do you have a better name? How would you call an administration caste, a warrior caste, a survey and research caste and a supply and repair caste? --Nonimportant 19:33, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
Why use the rigid feel of math!? If I used astrological signs I would destroy years of the carefully constructed "AIs are beings of pure science" vision that exists within the public mind! 'sides, greek letters are one of the coolest things about science (this is the other one). Maybe I'll try to find a math or symbology site around the net. Let's see...Alpha, as you suggested, seems like it could work for administrators. Perhaps, on the same subject, omega could be the letter for the warrior caste, since it's the last letter, and warriors are fond of ending things. Or maybe lambda, as a shameless reference to Half Life.
Sigma seems like a good candidate, it is used usually when referencing to sum of values, so perhaps it could work for the supply and repair. What is the name of that sideways 8? Sometimes used to mean infinity? Maybe it would be better construction caste. The research caste can be just about anything, I'll settle for gamma, according to wikipedia used for high-level math stuff like the Euler–Mascheroni constant and the Lorentz factor (as an added bonus, the Euler–Mascheroni constant seems to have something to do with mathematical analysis, just what I was looking for). If you're wondering why I needed that. Check the New Stories in the next few days. Now back to JAG. --Nonimportant 01:18, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Reviews
Serprex, thanks for the reviews of my books. I'm glad you like them. I saw you wrote a review to my third installment of the Carson Rodke Series. This one is not as good at the other two, The Great Jetski Race By Pirakafreak24 and Race to Paris By Pirakafreak24. --User:Pirakafreak24
[edit] huh?
what do you mean, manage verbs or whatever you said. As for the messaging, I forgot. I usually do. Rember that the first two stories in the Carson Rodke Series were assignments for class. For a second there I'm writing a happy little story about an AI analyser going to a barren planet to find out why the construction project of silver mines isn't coming along nicely, then the next second, my computer freezes up. Opening my CPU box, I see an actual spider web. I call the emergency computer fixing squad, and half a week later, they get there. Also, apparently the freezing up made ralink self-uninstall (so I had to call the emergency internet fixing squad, with predictable results), which makes me assume the spider web was a red herring and the freezing was virus-induced (I swear, I really thought I was the 1,000,000 VISITOR, and that I got a PRIZE (no, not really. Must've been one of the subtle viruses)). Luckily, there weren't any spiders in my CPU, the little leggy fellers give me the creeps (my fan is making a weird sound, though, but I can't fathom why). At any rate, that story just isn't being finished as soon as I had hoped. --Nonimportant 19:19, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
[edit] User Dionysos
User Dionysos drives me crazy. He is a newcomer and as such, he is welcome. What I don't agree is that he wants to change an entire wikia he does not even know. I am sick of him sending me messages to come back. I will never do, I will only come to talk pages to settle matters like this. I do not care if YZH comes or does not come back; I have no major interest on this wikia. My editions were only to collaborate in some stories I liked, like Monogram, not a plan for me to come back. Also, he has told me I am "sucking" users for my Ficciones wikia and I am not. I do not care even for Ficciones, now. I lost all interest in wikia.com.
But, what I can't stand is that a person with only one article here wants to change the entire wikia! Who is he to say that we need a new bureaucrat? or why does he say we need more administrators? I think the 3 admins here (you, Fythring and Nonimportant have made a fine job) are enough, as they were when YZH was here too. I made peace with YZH and I would never agree removing his bureaucracy, as I think Dyonisos wants. And as I won't ever come here to create fiction, it is pointless what he says that I could be an admin. I don't want to be an admin here, not even an active user.
Serprex, try to talk with him and tell him to calm down. I don't do it because it is a matter of Fiction Wikia. Plus, he comes and wants to change the way us users chose for the Featured Articles. Then, he will want to change everything to HIS view. And that is something admins should not allow; it is the voice of the community as a whole here. I completely disagree with because I think he wants:
- To remove YZH bureacracy: I only mentioned that when I was debating with YZH but I don't agree now. It would be a treason to do that to YZH; YZH is the most prolific writer here and the one who has helped more. I may have debated with him in the past, but time has made me think that he must be the bureaucrat.
- A new bureacrat/admin:
Dyonisos said: I think a new bureaucrat must be chosen by the community, and this one must not be imposed by wikia staff. I think he should be you, you were basically the starter of this wiki!Dionysos 14:54, 3 October 2008 (UTC) (Addressed to JWSchmidt and not replied, so, don't bother JWSchmidt involving him on this matter)
I say: You 3 admins are enough and make a good job. And if a new bureaucrat is needed in case YZH does not come back, you, Serprex, should be the one, but chosen by the community, not Dyonisos.
- Ficciones wikia to die: he told me to not to "suck" users and to help the effort here. Ficciones wikia has a purpose: it is the Spanish Fiction wikia. I won't quit that project only because Dyonisos suggests. And I won't recruit users from here. I did it once and I won't do that again.
P.S. My opinion is that Dyonisos should calm down first and edit at least for 2 months to really get to know the policies in Fiction Wikia. I am not interested in Fiction Wikia's future, but I don't like his animosity towards YZH; his animosity is even worse than mine months ago. I signed peace with YZH on his talk page, so I will never be against him anymore.
For you and all the users here: Please, Don't ever ask me to come back. (I sill don't understand why would anyone want me here... I would only argue and argue and argue. There is peace here without me).David 17:33, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
Right. Apathy could be the solution... I did read Foundation series.
I know I would be welcome or at least not unwelcome, thanks, just I don't feel like coming back... David 19:23, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
It does not matter. The point is that Davichito and *David* are different accounts and I do not want to be accused to be sock-puppeting. *David* 01:07, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Burocrat
I think we need a bureaucrat for this wikia to give privileges to the sysops in the future. JWSchmidt needs to be made a sysop and it seems that Proxima Centauri wants to nominate too. Currently, you are the only active sysop in here (I lost the password to my old account) so I would like to ask. Would you want to become a bureaucrat? I would create a forum and nominate you for that. We might need to ask a staff member in Central Wikia to give privileges to the future bureaucrat. I already contacted YZH but it seems he is not around anymore. The same with Jmoysae. --Acey • gossip. 18:03, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
So, I guess it means you don't want to become a bureaucrat. Well, we need new sysops then since you are the only sysop now and not so active. JWSchmidt was chosen and maybe I nominate Proxima. Other users have asked what it takes to be a sysop. So, when we choose another new sysop, I think we should ask a staff member to invest them and, optionally, to create a bureaucrat. It is not something that is needed right now but it would encourage participation for new users who want to be sysops. --Acey • gossip. 14:51, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Forget what I said, the bureaucrat is back and we have new sysops and rollbacks now, too. --Acey • gossip. 15:07, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Oh, okay. I just came back after I remembered I wrote a high fantasy story and remembered where I put it. Do you think I should continue on this site? It seems to be functioning just fine without the 'last' generation of frequent users. --F.<話して~!!>
it's sad that when finally we achieved "peace" in the wikia, users quit. --Acey • gossip. 23:08, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Users leaving
I don't think we should worry that so many of our best contributors leave. This is a friendly, considerate wiki. I think our best writers either get tired of writing fiction or, more likely decide to write professionally. New good writers keep ariving. Proxima Centauri 18:02, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

We all can get emotional about our stories, I once minded because somone who was being very constructive called one of my characters the alien hacker. I once wrote Entrevista con un psicoanalista in here and never saved it to my hard disk. [edit] Being Called a Troll
[Disclaimer: THIS IS NOT AN EDIT WAR ABUT I DO HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT BEING CALLED A "TROLL" DON'T HATE ME BECAUSE I TALK ABOUT MY STORIES A LOT AND JUST HAVE FUN ON THIS WIKI. Thank you.]
I am not a troll or anything like it. The reasons for talking about and getting you to help me with my story is because I created a meta and a list of characters so that y'all would pitch your storyline ideas for that story. Now, I am sorry that you think that I am "trolling" but I am really asking you guys for some storyline ideas for My Beloved Girlfriend, that is all. Ericthebrainiac 18:18, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
I haven't read My Beloved Girlfriend for a few months but when I last looked at it I thought it was some type of satire on the violent side of American life and violent American fiction. Am I right? Proxima Centauri 18:29, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Real trolls
This user insulted me on my talk page and vandalized The Aliens of the Flaming Red Sun. If the user did this to anyone else I would not hesitate to warn the user, "If you do that again we will block you." If I do that I will be accused of administrative abuse because it was done to my own story and to me, I know the user from Wikiindex. I've protected the page temporarily till another administrator can deal with the vandal. Proxima Centauri 16:25, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
[edit] trolliac
Ericthetrolliac. I think there is a difference between being a troll and being overly-enthusiastic in trying to find collaborators. I'm not sure that it is helpful to use terms like "Ericthetrolliac". If someone is pestering you with too many requests to collaborate, it might be best to just politely say that you are not interested or that additional requests will not increase your interest. --JWSchmidt 00:27, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] A Short List of Insults
Since I said that you were insulting me by calling me a "troll", here is a short list of how I thought you said:
- The first time you said I was "trolling", you said to "sit back and enjoy the acts of "Ericthetrolliac" and you were calling my looking for collaborators "acts of trolling".
and
- You called me a "troll" because I was just looking for some collaborators to help me finish My Beloved Girlfriend in 87 chapters or less in order to wrap up the story.
That, Serprex, is how I thought all of you were against me because you thought I was "trolling" your user names. Ericthebrainiac 15:41, October 30, 2009 (UTC)
