Fiction Wikia, the place where you can write fiction.

Now that all that's been archived...

Discussion starts again underRrRr this line. If it goes above, well then I'll pull a Nonimportant on you and threaten you with fire and death and all that cheery stuff.

That Yi Ge Ren thing would probably be Science Fiction, because SciFi is a pretty good umbrella term. Overall genres are silly things that people use to only restrict themselves from literary freedom and bind their stories to an archtype of cliche. Screw genresUser:Serprex 14:44, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Even Science Fiction can be a cliché. Check the stories where my uncle builds a Time Travel machine, there are tons of this, even the great Asimov wrote one short story with the "uncle" theme. The Time Travel is always the same, most times to the past not to the future, the person finds his double and so on... The End of Eternity is the only book that is not cliché. And there is these type of stories of Interestellar Travel, which Lucky Starr series must be the cliché everybody copy; check Star Trek and those.... And the other cliché is the story about a bioproject, always the same thing... Of course there are some stories that don't follow the cliché, but Science Fiction by itself does not mean it is exempt from that... IMHO, David 15:55, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh, and I re-read your post and it seems you were treating Science Fiction like all genres. If that is the case, forget what I said... David 15:59, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

99% Fythring, tell me the maximum number of stories per genre, 100, 150?

100% At last! If it is too unbelievable check this page: Forum:Archives_MakeoverTest, I already converted all Fantasy stories! I am uploading the program right now, I will give you the website address soon... David 21:51, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

You can download it here: http://pwp.etb.net.co/dokuser/WikiConv.html

Basic instructions:

1. You paste the data on the left textbox
2. Click convert
3. Copy the data from the right textbox
4. Paste it on Fiction Wikia

If you find any errors tell me, because I only tested in on Fantasy Archives... The errors are if it closes itself or if it does not convert up to the last story. Then you tell me where I can copy the same data you entered, for me to correct it...

David 22:42, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Strange, I tested it on Windows XP. Go to the chat and tell me step by step... David 22:48, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

If you can test it on another computer, from an Internet room or something... Or tell Nonimportant or some user from here, I tested on my home on three computers and it works fine.

What does the exact error say, besides the faulty configuration? Maybe an error number? I think maybe you have to download Microsoft's .NET framework, but I am not sure. This is the only thing I can imagine, for now... David 23:06, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

I found the error, I just had thought that featured articles had {{yes}} instead {{featurefic}}. It is fixed now, redownload

I found another, on 2084 story, my program does not understand multiple links, it only stands 1, so 2084 must have only one link for it to work.

And if the program finds any story it does not understand, it just continues with the rest of them, not stopping like it did. When there are stories not converted, the title of the window informs about it...

P.S. Post the comments here, I don't like to check 2 user_talks...

And I uploaded it for the third time (the changes include getting to the end even if the program bypasses some stories), so plese redownload it again.

The new version bypasses the errors and at the end gives a report where we can see the formatting and maybe we can fix it... I tested with Science Fiction and there are only 5 stories the ones the program does not understand, because they have extra characters on it. See:

Errors report

As you can see on the shot, the errors are for using something more that [[The Title]].

David 23:38, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations, you converted the Science Fiction category!

David 00:07, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Percent and author were not on the original format so, what else can I do?...

David 00:11, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

A hint for the formatting errors, for instance

| Ariana (Betula Academy) || No description available || no || not fan fiction || no || 8

must be changed to this for it to be converted in the program:

| Ariana (Betula Academy) || No description available || no || not fan fiction || no || 8

The point is that no word must be outside the brackets to be understood as a title.

I hope the program has saved you some time...

David 00:15, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

As most programs, mine had bugs. The rated part I put it as {{no}} and it should be {{notrated}}. Now it is correct, I already fixed Fantasy and Science Fiction Archives... It seems only Random Archives are left. The new upgrade also shows the number of stories converted when succesful. I think this would be your last re-download...

Fythring, were you a fangirl of Victor Hugo, when he was there on the mainpage? Just curious. David 01:59, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Do you like him, Fythring? Now Victor Hugo is in the main page. I guess everybody here is his fangirl. David 14:46, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Welcome

Indeed, I am welcome to the wiki, and indeed that is a silly template. Get a better one, they look better. Akira Otomo Talk | Contributions 21:02, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Main Page

Well, I don't know anything about the logo... About the main page, I made some changes to it, but not fully. The Main Page I like is at Main Page2. David 16:36, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Feel free to modify MP into a more MP2 oriented look, though JWS (I'll assume by his previous comments and actions) and I both agree that the MPheader should be includedUser:Serprex 17:35, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey! Nice to know you're back again! And with more stories to boot! :) I'm looking forward to reading them!

   22:45, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey, i edited my novel. Check it out! Saltypeach ~~~~17:07 14 July 2008

Hey! A Favorita is a brazilian soap opera, not a mexican one! You were supposed to say "Jesus Cristo!" ou "Minha Santa Maria do céu!". Then again, it's a bad soap opera either way, so it doesn't really matter. --Nonimportant 16:14, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

By the way, Spanish speakers NEVER invoke Jesus in an exclamation. They say "Virgen Santa!", "Santísima!", "Dios santo!", etc. Invoking Jesus is for English speakers, mostly, I think (I don't know about Brazilian people). Although most of them say: "Ay hijuep..." [edit] Thanks.

I hope to have fun here. have you read my story. Pirakafreak24 ( =Talk to me ) Admin at Disney Channel wiki, Michael Crichton wiki, and ADJL wiki. Let Freedom Ring! 9/11 03:36, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks...I'll consider that as a conpliment

I actually like my story. I know its not much, but it got a HUGE chuckle out of the class. I like it. But that's not all. I'm writing a novel, not for here, but to b released as an actual book. The site has kind of been lasting on inertia. So not much has changed, and anything that started has calmed sinceUser:Serprex 04:00, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Forever gone? How much did you have offline?User:Serprex 03:59, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

You disappear from this site for long periods at a time, eh? I was worried you had abandoned us :) Keep up the writing!

[edit] goings on

This is a rather busy time of year for me in the real world. Please be sure to take a look at Forum:Should sex be allowed on Wiki?. --JWSchmidt 14:14, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Yunzhong showed up at one point and did some administrative activities. Bit odd though, Nonimportant vanished six days after you. And I'm not hereUser:Serprex 14:22, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Do as you think best for you, not the site216.240.4.20 22:36, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

I don't understand. It could mean that this site is better without YZH, Nonimportant, etc? I don't get your point. And I think it's good to have new contributors... but I miss the 4 regulars, YZH, Nonimportant, Serprex and you. We were a nice community back then. --Acey • gossip. 22:46, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

I want to know why you quit. --Acey • gossip. 22:48, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

I tell you that only JWSchmidt and me are active (from the 6 we were last year). It seems Serprex is quitting, too bad. So, you will find many new faces in here, such as Godsgirl, Veriteo, Dearon, Proxima Centauri, Ericthebrainiac, etc. --Acey • gossip. 23:00, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, maybe it's not that irrelevant. Well, you were talking about you 4, the thing was that I was thinking about as 6... I was Davichito account. And yes, I miss Nonimportant too, he was a very good writer and quite funny and optimistic. He always made original posts and had a strange humor I wish I could have. --Acey • gossip. 02:26, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Odd to say I'm quitting, makes it sound like I'm making explicit choice. My activity is simply becoming more scarceUser:Serprex 20:25, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

So, it's more like taking a break, cool. I have found out that "quitting forever" does not exist in wikis, at least for me, hehe. I always come back. --Davinci - conversar 20:39, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, mostly I write mystery, some romance, and historical fiction. I write a littel sci-fi and I have started...oh...4 movies. one is a super-hero movie like Sky High. What about you?--God'sGirl94 13:49, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I have times when I can write REALLY WELL, and days I'm lucky that I can write anything. I know how you feel. I noticed that you have turned 15, I'll will on October 31st. Yes, you can lauge now. :-)--God'sGirl94 12:34, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Haha, witches day (Halloween).

They have it as an alternative to the user page where they also list their stories. --Acey • gossip. 13:07, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki fiction stew

We now have enough participants to start planning the plot for "Wiki fiction stew". --JWSchmidt 04:29, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Do you really mean "procreational drugs"? --JWSchmidt 22:22, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

So what exactly do you mean by "procreational drugs"? --JWSchmidt 00:12, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
"Stuff that blurs reality because they want to escape from it." <-- procreation means reproduction. It sounds like you might be thinking about recreational drugs...? --JWSchmidt 04:49, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Update April 14

Maximus proposed that April 18 be the start of story writing for Wiki fiction stew. Please take a look at the plot planning page and share your ideas for how to start the story. Remember, even if someone makes a suggestion for the plot that involves your character, you have the final say for what your character actually does in the story. Try to focus on what your own character does and cooperate with other authors in planning how characters will interact. --JWSchmidt 20:54, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
