Tyrael is one of the Lorym and a son of Vayrian. He is lord of the Ordinis and god of light. Father of Krono, Kaos and Zyr0. During the Chaos of the Gods he formed a strong rivalry with Bane the god of shadow.

Near the end of the Chaos of the Gods, Tyrael and Scipios were Schismated by an alliance between Zamn and Zyr0. In the aftermath of The Great Schism, the fragmented Soul Shards of both demigods drifted onto the Midworld. Scipio's spirit shards were discovered first, bringing great troubles to the lands of the Midworld. Tyrael's spirit-shards were discovered much later, in 999 AD, by Kirin Tor, a discovery that marked the beginning of humanity's second ascent, this time through magic rather than through wit.
