The Third World War erupted from a number of different instances in the year 2070, starting with the Chinese Missile Incident in early March.

During the Russian presidential elections of 2112, The Communist Party demands a recount as it is announced that the United Russian Party wins by a mere 30%, 2% over the Communist 28%. Official's recount and state that the Communist Party won at 31%. as Mikhail Putnov, the Communist Party Candidate, is about to be sworn in at Kremlin Square he is assassinated by sniper fire. Riots caused by communist supporters erupt and the Communist Party demands to be allowed to bring forth another candidate. The sniper is caught by police and is killed by a passing group of rioting communist's. when Anton Tartokovsky Putnov, brother of Mikhail Putnov and runner-up for Communist Party Candidacy, is sworn in the next morning riots begin to die. Media calls the entire event The Night Long Riot.
[edit] The Chinese Missile Incident
Chinese Military test-fired a new missile with incredibly increased accuracy. the official Chinese report is that the targeting sequence malfunctioned and caused to missile to land and detonate approx. 20Kms east of Lake Biwa, Kyoto, Japan. Japanese ISDF reports claim however that all evidence points to deliberate retargeting. The Chinese government fails to apologize for the incident and denies any foul-play. The Japanese Government took this as an act of war and immediately began to prepare for Combat in china and in the homeland. Japan and their close allies, the United States, also send ambassador's to Beijing in an attempt to negotiate a peace treaty. The Chinese arrest the Japanese Ambassador and deports the US Ambassador, declaring war on Japan.
