The so-called "Star Trek franchise" has been around for 40 years, its origin traced back to the original Star Trek tv series (1966-1969) starring William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. From this humble beginning, the uplifting and optimistic view of the future has spawned 10 movies (90% box office successes), and 5 spin-offs (3 were never cancelled). Despite the fandom reputation and possible "stigma" of the name "Star Trek," I believe a well-written and thought out series can help bring back, and rejuvenate the Star Trek name, in a similar way as with the Battlestar Galactica series, brought back by Ronald D. Moore. I have read and considered many possibilities to bring back Star Trek, and I feel the following is perhaps the most viable. It brings back the concepts from Gene Roddenberry's original pitch, and places them neatly within the well-established Star Trek universe. It features various crossover appearances and homages to the original Star Trek, while tying it to latter-day series such as Star Trek: Enterprise (2001-2005). So please, read and enjoy this "pitch" for a future Star Trek series.
