The Second Laurasian Period was the second major period of the Stellar Kingdom of Laurasia, lasting for nearly two centuries, from AH 657-840. The period commenced with the ascendancy of King Perseus (r. 653-59), who rejected the overlordship of the Lacian Despotate in AH 657 and brought about the restoration of the Kingdom's existence as an entirely independent, sovereign state. Under Perseus and his successors, down to the time of King Polares (r. 799-809), Laurasia expanded its power, territory, and influence to a far greater extent than it had during the First Laurasian Period, transforming itself into one of the major powers in the Caladarian Galaxy. By the end of Polares' reign in AH 809, the Kingdom extended from the Galactic Center and the Wild Marshes to as far as Shenandoah and Roastafaria, in the Middle Territories. Laurasian colonies were scattered far and wide from Laurasia Prime, leading to the diffusion of Laurasian culture into the galaxy's outer regions. And in addition to this expansion of the Laurasian political and social spheres, this period also saw considerable growth in the galactic economy, highlighted by the foundation of such vital trade routes as the Denveranian Trunk Line, the Murphian Trade Spine, and the Larkian Way.

But by the end of Polares' region, the Laurasians had overextended themselves, and the accession of his infant son Trajan (r. 809-23), led to the outbreak of the Trajanic Civil War. This war, involving contenders such as Heredotus (r. 823-30), Andrea Septimia (r. 830-32), and Neuchrus (r. 830-32), eventually led to the accession of Gordian III (r. 832-40). Gordian, however, was not able to enjoy his power for long, and was confronted with the formidable Dasian challenge, as embodied by Batya Khan (r. 827-55). Batya, a grandson of Genghis Khan, founder of the Dasian Empire, led an invasion of the Galactic Core regions, beginning in AH 837, that resulted in the subjugation of those regions and the establishment of the Golden Horde. Laurasia Prime itself fell to Batya in AH 840 and Gordian, along with his entire family, was executed, ending the Second Laurasian Period and ushering in the Dasian Yoke, which was to last for 240 years.
