[edit] Introduction

In a nutshell: The Novelas wiki is the site to post your stories and creative writing projects, and where a community can collaborate with the writing effort.

Novelas also supports a variety of projects ranging from large, established constructed worlds to poetry. Participation in the community will help you and others enjoy the art of creative writing and feel part of a significant collaborative project.

As a wiki, this site uses the CC-BY-SA license. This is a type of copyleft licensing by which you freely share your work with the world. You agree to allow other people to copy or modify what you write, but they must give you credit (attribution) for what you wrote. Note: you even agree that what you write here can be used by others for commercial purposes as long as they give you attribution.

If you write a story here then other people can create new versions of the story.

[edit] Editing a page

1. Find the page first.
2. At the top of the page, find and click the tab that says Edit.
3. Edit it! Save often.
4. Click on Preview under the text field to see what it will look like. Try to use it every time.
5. Click on Show changes to see what changes you've made.
6. Click on Save changes to finish. DON'T FORGET THIS STEP!!!

[edit] Getting started

• At the top of the screen is a link, "login/register". Please do. It takes half a minute and lets us identify with and communicate with you, as well as give you a proper welcome.
• You have your own user and user talk page for each wikia, accessible via a link at the top of the page.
• Separate sections and topics with headings, ie. ==New Topic== .
• To see recent changes made on the site, click on the 'recent changes' link.

[edit] Policies

• Adopt good faith toward other people and try not to misrepresent them.
• For discussions, sign your posts with four tildes ~~~~ .
• Keep pages no larger than 30KB. Search a page to see if it's too large. If it's too large, break it up by editing and creating a new page.
• If you're writing a long story, break it into chapters. Give them page titles of StoryNameHere/1, StoryNameHere/2, etc. Don't forget to categorize it as [[Category:StoryNameHere]]. Then on the category page, categorize by genre and length (see examples!).
• If you want to create a conworld, first be sure you will have HUNDREDS OF HOURS to dedicate to it. If you can't, don't start it. Don't expect others to do it for you.
• If you want to create interactive fiction, click on Interactive fiction on the sidebar to go to that wiki first. Don't make it here on Novelas.

Note:

• Others can distribute the work for noncommercial purposes
• Copies and spinoffs must be (at least) partially attributable to you
• Your work can be edited, moved, and deleted
• You can multiple license any work you post on this site
• Fanfic must be declared as such but certainly is allowed on this site

[edit] How to

• To create a new work, type in the name of your story into the textbox at the top of the page!
• To discuss a page, click on the tab that says Discussion near the top of the age.
• To watch an article, click on the watch tab near the top of the page.
• To move a page, click on the move tab near the top of the page.
• To see page history, click on the history tab near the top of the page.
• To upload an image, click on 'upload image' link on the sidebar and follow the instructions.
• To create a link, use [[Target page|Text]] .
• To add an image, use [[Image:Image name.extension]] .
• To categorize a page, use [[Category:Category name]] .
