[edit] History

[edit] Lilu

Queen Lilu had lived in the area that was to become Netopyrus for most of her recorded existence. Over time she gained different followers, Vampires being the most notable. It was in 100 AD that Lilu built Castle Bloodbelt on Mount Caul and declared Netopyrus to be a kingdom. Within that Kingdom Vampires were lords over all others; though the population included Werewolves and Humans, they were second class citizens at best.

During the Age of Myths, after the destruction of the first Order of Dragon slayers, Ynkef V came to Netopyrus in the First Grey Crusade and Queen Lilu was killed along with many of her followers.

[edit] Valach

After the death of Lilu, the Werewolves built the City State of Vargulf leaving Bloodbelt to the Vampires. The remaining Vampires came to follow Queen Valach, the pupil of Queen Lilu. Two decades after the first Grey Crusade, Valach was married to Varkadis Vulkolark of Vargulf. A Vampire rebellion, led by Strigoy, opposed the alliance between Vampires and Werewolves. The Dark War escalated to open conflicts, Vampires and Werewolves who opposed the idea of an alliance were attacking each other and the alliance. Queen Valach had Strigoy and his followers banished to the Wastelands. Varkadis Vulkolark ordered the mass execution of any Werewolf who was believed to be part of the Rebellion.

[edit] Varkadis

While the rebellion was destroyed, Valach's reputation was not as strong as it had once been, and Varkadis soon had people thinking of him as the ruler of all Netopyrus, as Lilu had once been. Though Valach had intended him to have almost no power over Castle Bloodbelt; their marriage had been intended to end the war. There was, however, no precedent for a King of Bloodbelt, and there was no law stating whether Valach or Varkadis were the ruler of Bloodbelt. Who was in charge was a matter of personal opinion, and loyalties were soon split between them.

In Bloodbelt, Varkadis styled himself Dark King and began to make preparations for war with the world beyond Netopyrus. He established relations with the Lich Dantalion, and created a school where he could teach evil Arcanery. Varkadis gave orders to construct the Dark Legion, an army composed of dark creatures.

However, Varkadis was defeated, and much of his army destroyed.

[edit] Anarchy

For many years Vampire hunts became commonplace in stories, and Vampire Slayers were not uncommon in the lands surrounding Netopyrus. Without a strong king to unite them the legion of darkness descended into petty in fighting. In 573 Princess Volkardianna took the crown. The kingdom lay in rest until the Coming of The Dragons when Queen Volkardianna was contacted by a Monk of the Black Jewel. The kingdom was entrusted with one of many dragons' nests and the legion of darkness was reborn. The army of Netopyrus fought in many of the battles at the end of the first age but ultimately it fell back into anarchy during its climax.

[edit] The Fall

In 1538 The Second Grey Crusade claimed the lives of many creatures in Netopyrus. The few Vampires that survived constructed a new city. Even so, the greater part of Netopyrus was never regained, the Kingdom was gone, and only a small number of Vampires remained.

[edit] Dark Ages

For millenia Netopyrus was rulerless, saved from conquering only by the worthlessness of its land and the safety of the Deadwood. In 8467, while exploring the region, Captain Slurmansk, was captured and taken to see a tribal chieftess named Visera. Other than this little is known about politics in Netopyrus untill 9372 when Vith Wolf Blood conquered Netopyrus and claimed the title of King.

[edit] The Dark War

The Dark War was the name used to describe the covert skirmishes between the Vampires of Castle Bloodbelt and the Werewolves of Vargulf. Though these attacks were not endorsed by the leaders on either side, they could not stop their subjects from engaging in small battles.
