[edit] History
[edit] Roots
A warlike and aggressive people, they were expelled from Arkanros ca. 3500 CE after being rightly accused of raiding trade caravans. With no-one to accept them, the Armidions crossed the Great Sea and settled in the western land of Gallé Durmorin. The Armidions spread throughout the land, coming into contact with the native Tukaku, and founding many settlements. They warred with each other constantly, however, almost wiping out their whole race in the First Armidian War (3624 - 3627 CE). It was not until 3733 CE that someone would step up and unite the different Armidian tribes.

[edit] The Armidian Empire
Following the defeat of Lulhullo, Duran had unified all of Armidia. As his people saw it fit to have him as their first emperor, he was crowned Emperor of the Realm of Armidia and Gallorum and King of the Galician Islets in the new capital of Duré Paladin. As a ruler, he was just and fair, and resolved many disputes. His reign saw the construction of many important cities and fortresses, developments in philosophy, technology, and the arts, and peace in all of Gallorum, something which, prior to his reign, was unheard of. Gallorum was in its Golden Age, with the Armidions expanding their territory into the physical and ethereal realm, and with trade relations between them and the Tukaku flourishing. The Armidian Navy, harbored at the noteworthy port Poré Durmorin, discovered many new lands, including the legendary Unicorn Island and the Galician Islets, and was at the time the largest navy in the world.
After Duran's death in 3805 CE, the Armidian Empire continued to grow and prosper under his descendants. Little Gallorum (Gallé Cormorin) was discovered in 3807 CE and annexed as a province of the Empire; many Armidions relocated there in the following years. For the next 1200 years, the Armidian Empire remained as it was until, in 5009 CE, fierce barbarians from the northern plains raided the border cities of the Empire and, when coupled with the economic crisis and discord present at the time, eventually brought down the empire. Bóran the Fourth, the last Emperor of Armidia, did not live to see his ancestors' legacy collapse. He died in 5010 CE after his horse threw him into an apple tree.
[edit] Age of Legend
Following the collapse of the Empire, the rich past of Armidia became the stuff of legend. It was rumored that Duré Paladin was guarded by 500 elite ghost soldiers, and that whoever entered Duré Boromin (a rebel fortress) would die in the night. The following five centuries were marked by Armidia's descent into ignorance, superstition, and unbelievable credulity. Knights were held in high esteem, even worshipped, and comets, previously known as "stars flying across the sky", became portents of doom. This age is also noted for its imaginative and original literature, obviously fed by the superstition and mythology.
[edit] Republic of Armidia
The Armidian tribes united themselves once again in 5523 CE, this time willingly, and formed the Republic of Armidia. This republic is possibly the longest lasting republic in the world, existing even at the founding of the Anglian Empire in 9331 CE.
[edit] Language
The Armidions speak a variety of dialects, which are all based on High Duské, a language once spoken in Arkanros.

- Lower Duranian* (spoken in the north)
- Galician (spoken in the Galician Islets)
- Low Dush* (mixture of Tukaku and Lower Duranian)

Dialects marked with an asterisk are extinct.
