Once upon a time, there lived a young shepherdess, who tended the flock of her father in the great grasslands of Aeternitas. But one day, when she went to fetch a lost sheep, she came upon a bird that was singing the most beautiful song she had ever heard.

So she sat down below the tree, and for three years, the bird spoke to her in song of the danger of the world, and then the bird died.

When the song ended, the shepherdess knew herself cursed with the fate of the world, so for her entire life, she wandered, learning high and low knowledge, and in time, became the greatest witch of the land.

And then she met the curse of the world, the great enemy of humankind: the curse which prevented humanity from coming together into a social and peaceful pact that would otherwise have led the race to the pinnacle of its ability. And thus, the sheperdess became the first to adopt the need to unify the disparate tribes of the land.

And she sought and found four other women who were willing to achieve this goal, one from each of four other tribes. And these five became the Five Wise Women...
