[edit] Formation of the Wise Women

For as long as people could remember, they had been recording the knowledge of the cosmic warfare that was engulfing The Planes. Part of the result was inevitable: the people turned on themselves. Those who were weak came under the rule of those who were strong, and were called servants or slaves depending on how helpless they were; the strong inturn became soldiers, lords, and commanders who leed the others on to war. The warfare continued for a long time thereafter, and seemed interminable, just as the cosmic war. However, at this point there came to be a group of five Wise Women who decided that they would sacrifice themselves for the good of humanity. They therefore each called themselves the same Wise Woman, so that others would mistake them for each other, and such was the ignorance of the peoples of the time that they actually believed that these five people were one and the same.

[edit] A Shocking Peace

During the next several decades, as the warfare continued to escalate, these Five Wise Women each infiltrated the command structure of one of the five major warlords of the known realm in which the humans dwelled. After great sacrifices and losses, difficulties and quests, each of the Five managed to arrive at the positions of power beside each of the warlords—while not as their queens, they became the prophetesses of each band of warriors. Henceforth, they guided their lieges to avoid warfare whenever possible, so as to conserve the population of the sparse humanity in the world for other crises. In time, the peoples came to view the Wise Woman as indeed wise, and thus they gained even more power. Each of them then maneuvered themselves into a position from which they could assume power in each clan with the death of the warlord. As the warlords died from old age or warfare, the old Wise Women took their place as the leaders of each clan. Once all five clans had come under the control of the five Wise Women, they abruptly declared an end to the war, and vanquished those who opposed. An unexpected peace settled in the land, allowing the peoples to thrive once again.

[edit] The Challenge of the Five

The Wise Women then fell apart, however, when they each gave control over their clan to their own children (from copulation with the clan’s warlords) and thus procreated another group of five that would threaten the peace, as each were given a fifth of the whole but desired the entirety of the five clans. This was unacceptable to the Wise Women, so once again they demonstrated their wisdom by declaring that the five would have their winner, hence whoever was the righteous ruler of the lands, when four of the five had died and only the fifth was left alive. Consequently, none of the children went to war, as they realized that they could never come to obtain the whole world in any way other than through peace and via secretly plotting to kill others through assassination. So, although war never broke out again for those decades to come, there were many assasssination attempts by each of the new clan leaders; meanwhile, the societies, oblivious to all this, prospered.
