[edit] Life
[edit] Early years
Born as the son of a poor peasant to the reality of fertile and abundant but an overpopulated southern area called, Dingwalayo.
Under unpromising, deadened life of labor, he, unlike his rebelious younger brother, Tumungasa, never dreamt of a better life. Grown up under strict traditions of his parents, in a large family, with his world view rather confined, he thought merely of labour, family and worship.
However, even he was caught up by reality. One season, the countless generations owned and encumbered estate of his father, failed to pay the hire and the family like many others of that time, they were left destitute.
His parents, unable to cope with the new situation died and Tumunkabi, with his siblings, were all, but one, sold into slavery. Tumungasa, who eluded slavery left and wandered the world, initially living a beggar life. He later became a powerful and renowned trader. It was not until about 20 years later that Tumunkabi and Tumungasa met again.
[edit] Start of military career
After no more than a year of slavery spent in the city of Gamanta, Tumunkabi escaped (see Murder in Gamanta). Actually he was not left with any choice. After ekeing out a living, he enrolled the army of Karbala, in a frontier-guard unit, commanded by Lord Alyantar.
After three years spent, stationed in garrisons along the easterns borders, training his fighting skills engaging in skirmishes he, eventually, got troubled and had to leave (or more accurately, flee, see Tumunkabi: Scorpion Desert).
Heretofore, Tumunkabi's life, perhaps turbulent and adventurous, was regulated by others. From now on, he was responsible for himself and there was nobody to tell him what to do.
He realised, however, being independent is the best area his inherent organizing and leading skills, thus far neglected, could fully evolve.
The first concern, however, was to find a (best under circumstances) secured job. As the most lucrative one - according to his martial experiences - seemed to enlist as mercenary for one of numerous merchant clans in Olo.
After a modest (or rather embarassing) beginning, caused by his lack of experience with the most complex character of the chaotic Olo business (Tumunkabi: At the will of the Falcon), often pursuing his mere self-preservation, he managed to secure his place and found his own mercenary troop.
