The Yew is a type of thin and spindly yet pointy tree. It is not too tall; is rather conical; and its leaves are pointy, resemblant of firs. The yew can survive for a long time, with life spans far greater than that of the average human. Its branches, when severed, can survive on their own for a long time as well, probably due to their slow metabolism. The yews have a penchant for growing near hallows, making them optimal woods for construction of magical staves. The yew is particularly resistant against cold and mistreatment by the forces of nature, and thus can be found growing in many places. However, their anatomy also means that they are not common in any place in particular, being out-competed by most other forms of flora in most places.
