Nekos are magical creatures of Kaos. They look a lot like humans but they have animal characteristics such as tails, ears, and claws. Nekos, despite being seen as feline in nature, have different animal types. The only ones known so far are:
- Cat, the most popular type of Neko. A Neko without a prefix word is seen to be a Cat Neko. Cat Nekos can be found roaming in any land terrain.
- Fish, this type lives in any body of water. They look alot like mermaids/mermen expect smaller and completly covered in scales. Fish Nekos were discovered during 8465 by The Viserian in the Diamond Sea. Having them swim by your boat means you will have good fortune (similar to spotting merpeople).
- Wolf, this type was only discovered during the Third Age in Netopyrus. Some of these also seem to have the ability to see into the future. However, not too long after being discovered, the wolf Nekos were hunted for their fur. It was said to bring good luck to its owner. They were able to stop the hunting but because of the incended, known to the wolf Nekos as 'The Crisis', two-thousand wolf Nekos died.
Nekos are quite shy creatures. They mostly live in the forests although a few (mostly Cat Nekos) go out in the open and teach magic to those they deam worthy. However, their test to see if you are worthy to learn magic is quite difficult. Nekos are best at using spells. However, differnt Nekos use different things:
- Cat Nekos: Shiny objects. These can sometimes be enchanted to give fabulous results. Almost no cat Nekos have been reported to brandish such magical items to detrimental effects.
- Fish Nekos: Fishing rods. These rods have magical properties that allow them to mysteriously "fish" for lost objects down in the depths of the water. If a sailor can meet with a fish Neko and ask for aid with such a retrival, they generally will agree to help.
- Wolf Nekos: Their fur is what holds really important value, as they can be worked to yield a coat that gives wearers increased luck. They have been known to demonstrate some unusual properties besides, but these are not all that common.
Nekos are more known for their good fortune rather then their magic, and fishermen who catch a Fish Neko are seen to be smiled upon by Kaos. A Fish Neko, when caught, will trade an act of magic for its freedom.
