Humans are the central race in The Neverending Wiki, and thus the development of humanity parallels an increase in its importance in the Midworld's affairs. Our analysis of people must touch upon the most basic facets of the events in history.

[edit] Beginning

Humans of the Neverending Wiki are the spawn of Zamn, the god of balance and of conflict. Indeed, these two aspects have characterized humanity ever since the Chaos of the Gods, when humanity first came into being to act as an observer race of the celestial conflict. However, and possibly due to the ultimate intentions of Zamn, humanity's keen innate ability to glean information, understand it, and manipulate it would soon spell its rise, giving it the capability to improve upon itself in a way that no other race in the Midworld has been able to do.

[edit] Eternity

The times from the Beginning of humanity to Eternity's End is known as the Eternity, sometimes even as the Eternity of Ignorance, when humanity was too caught up in learning knowledge and gaining power for oneself that it was inable to rise together into a society that could be a power in its own right. These times were characterized by a lack of development and of slow technological progress, as well as of a particularly small population. Through the Eternity, humanity's population grew from a handful to roughly two thousand, a particularly slow growth rate given the amount of elapsed time. Meanwhile, it had been split into many warring barbarian tribes. Until Eternity's End, there was no civilized tribe, no central power.

[edit] First Age

The First Age began with Eternity's End, the period now fondly recalled as the time when five Wise Women were able to come together and solidly unite five of the barbarian tribes, thus establishing a central power among the disparate human tribes allowing for this Union of Five Tribes to develop and rise above barbarianism. The end of the Eternity's End, and the beginning of the Dawn of Ages, is so important to human history and development that it is marked as 0 AD, for After Dawn.

The next era is the Dawn of Ages, a particularly short but crucial period of time when the Union of Five grew stronger and established a measure of political stability, ensuring its peoples that it would not fall apart immediately. During this time a king, A Horador, managed to consolidate his rule over the Union of Five, which thus became the first kingdom.

Following the consolidation of the old Union, the next few centuries of mild development were known as the Classical Age, in which a dynasty of over twenty Horadors ruled. In time, it grew weak from the introduction of religion from Serdia, leading to its take-over by the barbarian War Tribe, which then adopted the culture of the Union and became the First Empire. The First Empire was racked by a curse by Hobgoblin which killed a string of emperors at three-year intervals, leading to its demise in 586 AD.

The beginning of the Dark Ages marks the Coming of the Dragons, when the First Empire and civilized society fell apart under the terror of the nearly invincible dragons. An Order of the Dragonslayer was established to counter the threat, and claimed credit for the success of the Fall of the Dragons, when the invaders' weaknesses were discovered and a reunited humanity under the Second Empire put an end to the dragon threat, probably once and for all. The Second Empire renamed itself the Third Empire to mark the transition from a resistance organization to the ruling force with the Fall of the Dragons, and began its Reconstruction. In a short time, humanity had recovered its former culture. In a series of six Fiend Wars, humanity managed to vanquish the Fiends, but only with the help of the Damgir Ancients who arrived in 777 AD.

The arrival of the Damgir and their help against the Fiends was appreciated, and as thus they came to influence humanity's history for the next two centuries. The Damgir had a problem with the prevailing Serdian-like religion and sought to vanquish it, and replaced it with another one advocating a monotheism under Vayrian (the creator of the Ancients). Things deteriorated to the point that Zyr0 abandoned humanity, albeit temporarily, and the next century of Damgir control was known as the Forgotten Ages.

[edit] Second Age

Marking the beginning of the Second Age and the Low Middle Ages was the Discovery of Magic, from the spirit shards of Tyrael. Fears of the dark arts led to the High Inquisition; once the fears subsided, the Pax Religium spelled over a century of blessed peace. But time was running out for those who held on to the past. By 1168 AD, the first Mage Clans had formed, and things were about to change for the worse.

The Mage War Age began with seemingly random battles and a pervading anarchy as different mage clans sought out the locations of the hallows--the regions tipped by Tyrael's spirit shards--and then became more organized and more deadly when the first spells were finally introduced. Not until 1242 AD would the Order of the Horadrim be founded as a means of uniting the peoples and overcoming their fears for the dark arts. Shortly afterward, a major spirit shard of Scipios was discovered and tapped into, causing a Great Scourge that ravaged the Midworld and decimated the human population. Only with the Second Serdian Invasion and the formation of Anglia to confront the threat of Muka'mador did the Mage Wars come to an end and the population come under a single rule, which was later renamed Arkanros to signify a transition from wartime to peacetime.

The founding of Arkanros marked the beginning of the Middle Ages, which saw humanity take the conflict with Muka'mador into Serdia itself, the Giant Wars which marked the superiority of humanity to most other races in the Midworld, and the Big Push in all directions to settle more virgin lands. As a result of this activity, Loco Powder, an addictive drug, was discovered, harking yet another war for control over this important resource. Meanwhile, the population was growing moderately, technologies were being discovered faster, and the realm of human territory continued to expand.

[edit] Third Age

The High Middle Ages began with the tapping into Runic Scriptase, a valuable technological invention allowing the swift casting of spells, allowing for more effective use in battles. This was followed by a diplomatic revolution as well as an intercontinental war between Arkanros and the Armidions. The era also saw the wars on enslavement and the Eutris wars. In time, the Armidions formally dissolved their connection with the humans of Arkanros and established Geugaw.

The Golden Age begun with the first enchantments in 1516 AD and soon saw the Pax Aurum, or golden peace. Not long afterward, however, an insidious alteration in the paradigms of the spellcasters known as the Diabla Magia, coupled with the arrival, invasion, fall, rebirth, and second invasion of Mordin sealed the end of the Golden Age. Mordin was later defeated in 1560 AD.

The fall of monarchy in Arkanros in 1560 AD, and the establishment of a democracy, marked the beginning of the Modern Age. Along with ever faster rates of change, a blooming population explosion, and even more advanced magical technologies, the Modern Age, which continues to today of the Neverending Wiki, saw decades of the Pax Modernum (modern peace). Recently, the Baelrog Expedition was launched in 1585 AD, which backfired in 1606 AD (present day) with the invasion of the Egons and the Synath Wars.
