A cross between an horse and a camel, the keen, tan-hide garout are the mounts of the Pan'touk, and being a valuable commodity to the community, are hardly seen in the wild. They are fast and strong and capable of trekking long distances, though not quite as much as the horses found south of the Wastelands. However, they are more valuable than horses in the Wastelands because they are also hardier than horses, which cannot stand the cold climates. Garout are found almost exclusively in pockets in the Wastelands where there are substantial Pan'touk populations. Because of these advantages, their importance to Pan'touk survival is immeasurable.
