Dum are a race of magical creature, they are humanoid shaped with dolphin-like rubbery black skin, causing some to think they might be related to Husks though there is no evidence of any connection between them.

Dum move extremely quickly, so quickly that their form becomes blurred and that they are impossible to hit with arrows or swords, however they must still turn slowly and in the fashion of an arc, making spears a valuable weapon when fighting a Dum. Even when moving at this speed Dum do not make the slightest noise. Dum also can create more then one of themselves, these others seem to be as solid as the first, and it seems that Dum can only do this when they are moving at extreme speeds. If one duplicate of a Dum is killed, they all die.

Dum hate noise more then any other creature hates anything, they seem to live for the sole purpose of destroying and killing everything that makes noise, they are fanatical in this pursuit and would die without hesitation to attempt to fulfill this cause.

It is believed that Dum once lived underground, like the Serdians, but that they were forced to flee their homes when the Serdians came up out of the ground, though how the Serdians made the Dum run is a matter of great debate, as Dum are practically fanatical in their quests to destroy all noise. However it is this same hatred of noise that makes it definite that the Dum come from underground, it is the only environment where a place that has no noises in it might be found, no place aboveground has this type of environment. Another possible explanation is that Dum come from the sea, though they show no signs of being able to survive underwater, some have suggested that the hive mother lives in the water and that it is where all Dum are born, but that they themselves cannot live in the water, which would not seem however to make sense, the reason hive queens are believed to create spawn is so that they can live better, have workers and/or protectors; this idea is mostly disgarded, as the Dum could not really develop their sense of hearing or speed by living underwater.

Dum seem to always live alone, no one has any idea how they reproduce, they do not live anywhere near each other and couldn't possibly resort to any sort of calls to attract each other, and no one knows how they might call other Dum to themselves for this purpose, some have suggested scents, though many have said that Dum don't usually live near enough to each other to be able to smell the scents, the chance that a scent might travel miles and miles without ever being hit by a wind is extremely unlikely, it might be possible that they scents behind them whereever they go and in this way they can find each other, but Dum travel so much that it would be along way of finding each other. They may also be telepathic. Another possible explanation is that there is some sort of hive mother that lives somewhere which is or are (if there's more then one) the only source of new Dum, which might explain why they might leave the underground (if that's where they originate) if the hive mother was threatened underground then the other Dum might have to seek out a new home or if the mother died the others might just run away, no one can know if Dum are a vengeful race.
