[edit] Geographical features
Meriavincla covers most of the continent, yielding only to Mare Galiciata in the northwest. Meriavincla is densely forested, enjoys a temperate climate, and has access to seas on all four sides. Mountain ranges border the eastern, southern, and southwestern coasts. The region has four seasons.
[edit] Demographics
Meriavincla is home to the Meriavinclan people, a human race which settled on the island in 2700 CE. The population of Meriavincla was estimated to be around 200 million at its peak, dwindling to only 30 million after the Fall of Empires. The Meriavinclans are of medium color, with mostly brown eyes and dark hair. They are the most technologically advanced race in the whole world, with Winkle as their language.
In the year 6240, the population of Meriavincla nearly doubled due to cloning experiments. Fortunately, the clones all died when the kingdom was attacked by dragons in 6258, sparing the country from overpopulation.
[edit] History
Meriavincla was settled around 2700 CE by nomadic tribes coming from Greater Gallorum. A peaceful race, the "Merrywinkles" easily formed a kingdom on the continent in 2855, lasting for hundreds of years under different dynasties (or Serengets) and developing technology surpassing that of the world around them.
Meriavincla, before the Fall of Empires, stretched across the whole of Little Gallorum, with a little piece of land in the north belonging to the state of Galicia. At this time, the Meriavinclans had become an arrogant people, and were passing laws to banish all their gods into the realm of ignorance, an act which deeply hurt the ethereal beings. This was mostly due to the invention of the SupraComputra Ultra, a gigantic computer which explained every occurence in the world and left no place for supernatural beings. The gods of Meriavincla decided therefore to rain fire and brimstone upon the country, which had no effect, as the people were well prepared with their supreme technology. The gods then sent seven cyclones to the land, and pounded on the earth seven times, still to no avail. The gods then (according to the Meriavinclan Creation Myth) sent a fire-breathing dragon to toast the people. This dragon blew out a flame hotter than the sun which disrupted the electro-magnetic field in Meriavincla for seven years. He then proceeded to ravage the kingdom until only a few duchies remained.
Meriavincla lay in this state for many years, until it reasserted itself in around 8780, and formed the Meriavinclan Union, a union of twenty-four independent kingdoms, in 8783. The Meriavinclans thereafter rediscovered mortar pulver, among other things, and allied themselves with the Anglians during the Anglian-Serdian War.
