The Great Salt Flat begins at the eastern-most coastline of the Frozen Sea and continues on till it transforms into the Tablelands. The dryest place in the world, it never rains. it is also completely flat and the ground is made of hard-packed salt.

At one time (when the Ancients were still here) this land was part of the Frozen Sea, but a Sorcerer named Kaurus used Creomancy to raise the sea bed and drain the waters to create his own kingdom of diamonds. The magic was so powerful it killed him in the process and was left as salty ground, the diamonds dissolving as they came past the surface. Nothing can grow here and no birds fly in the sky. The only things capable of living in the Flat are Wurms, who burrow through the tunnels and turn the sodium into energy to power their basic biology.
