Cobden is the highest mountain in the midworld. It sits in the exact centre of the world where it was raised by Vayrian as he was thrown into Aether by the impact of the Hammer of Orsinius during the time known as Orsinius's Two Challenges. The peak of the mountain is the closest point in the Midworld to the Overworld, more so by the planar forces which cause the factons to be tightly nit into a powerful mesh. Because of this, the energy, life, and blessedness of Aether leaks over into the midworld. This causes the area around Cobden to be supernaturally fertile, producing enormous crop yields, healthy livestock, and causing an abnormal number of births of twins and triplets. There is also a general aura of goodwill and hope around the base of the mountain.

Brave mountain climbers devote their life to climbing the massive mountain, forming groups that carry tents, food, and supplies to form settlements. None who have climbed the mountain have ever returned. Theories of their fate include death, reaching the Overworld or perhaps coming to call the mountain top home.

Even though no one has returned, parties continue to form with the goal of reaching the summit. This is attributed to the general air of optimism that is emitted from the mountain.
