This article is about magic in Lorica.

Spells are individual forms of various disciplines. They involve the use of stars and other resources and perform an infinite variety of tasks, depending on how the spells are cast. For a list of terms see Spell terminology. Spells are developed. Learning takes far less time than developing from scratch.

Learning generally involves understanding how to call upon Eutrises. Each standardized spell has one or more eutrises. Eutrises' names are almost exactly like that of each instance of the spell, except that the ending is in -ase for eutrises rather than -ae for instances of spells.

See Spell casting for how to determine the locational specifics of spells. Once casting is done, the spell is initiated by saying the spell's name except ending in -e rather than -ae. The generic class Instantiase incanta then initiates the spell.

[edit] Naming conventions

Most words in Lorica end in -a. Spell names (the second term in the list) have their first word ending in -ae and is usually a verb, with descriptive modifiers coming afterward. Eutris names (the first term in the list) are written the same way except that instead of -ae for the first word, they end in -ase. The words are based on a constructed language that can be found here; it is a form of spanish/latin/english but not quite. Negative modifier des- is added to the start of a spell name if it reverts (negates) another spell's effects. All spells listed below should be broken down to their most basic components where possible; otherwise, they are spell packages and belong here.
