This is the story... of how armageddon came. SCI-FI

Chapter 1[]

Ryan, Alyssa and Ross were good friends and they were particularly interested in quantum cosmology, astrosociobiology and neuroscience. Needless to say, they were all a bit geeky. Unfortunately, they lived next to a swamp, but, fortunately, they also lived next to a city.

One fine day, Ryan and Ross were sitting together silently at the table in the kitchen. Ryan and Ross often argued with each other, but they were usually more civil to each other when they were silent. The silence was broken when Ross brought up a subject that made Ryan feel quite uncomfortable.

"Ryan," he said suddenly, "do you believe your brain is in a coelthesive non-batchrosive state?" Ryan didn't answer for a moment. This question made him uncomfortable since he didn't understand it and he had always been determined to prove that he was smarter than Ross.

"Do you even know what that means?" Ryan asked incredulously, hoping that this would force Ross to explain what that meant out of pride. Instead, Ross laughed out loud.

"You wouldn't be saying that if you didn't know yourself!" he replied. "Why don't you tell me what it means?"

"Ha!" Ryan replied. "You're just saying that so I'll tell you what it means. You're too full of yourself to come to me and admit there's something you don't know."

"Don't you wish," Ross answered smugly.

"Well, if you know, then just say what it means," Ryan retorted snidely.

"Well, if you know, then you say it."

"No, you say it!"

"No, you say it!"

"No, you say it!"

"Will you two knock it off!" shouted Alyssa who was in the kitchen cooking something that vaguely resembled food. "For heaven's sake, those are both invented words!" Ross burst out laughing.

"I got you, again!" he shouted gleefully. "There's simply no doubt that I'm smarter than you!"

"If I'd come up with the same scheme, you would've done the same thing!" Ryan retorted. Ross laughed louder.

"Maybe, but you didn't," he replied smoothly. "I'm so much smarter than, that it's scary."

"No, I'm smarter!" Ryan replied.

"No, I am!"

"No, I am!"

"No, I am!"

"I'm smarter than both of you," Alyssa interrupted as she placed their breakfast on the table. "Now, why don't you two go dunk your heads into a barrel of dihydrogen monoxide?" Both Ryan and Ross were very interested in impressing Alyssa, so they didn't say anything and pretended to enjoy her meal.

Alyssa sat down to eat with them at the table, though she sat a fair distance away in case they got involved in a food fight, as they often did. However, for most of their meal, they were silent until Ross finally spoke.

"You know," he said casually, "if you want to prove, once and for all, that you're smarter than me, then I have a challenge. It's the greatest intellectual challenge of all time! What do you say?"

"I say I'll do it," Ryan said immediately, not wanting to look like a chicken. He had no way of knowing that this challenge would ultimately lead to the end of all life on Earth.
