Friends may meet for just one hour,
Yet friendship may forever flower;
A single word, a single smile,
And now together, mile for mile.
Friends might only rarely greet,
Thus each meeting’s such a treat.
Cherish the moment, make it sweet,
For friends might not have long to meet.
Friendship makes for endless treasure,
Fruits which go beyond mere measure.
Such a bond’s a binding gift,
A bridge of passion thru the rift;
Passions may tomorrow shift,
Yet always keep that wondrous gift.
Friends may not walk side by side,
Yet in thought shall keep astride;
Friends walk as one all one’s life,
Thus through peace and thus through strife.
Bonds of friendship none can sever:
“Not thus now but thus forever.”
