Friends walk as one all one’s life,

Whether through peace or through strife;

A single word, a single smile,

Always together, mile after mile;

Friends may meet for just one hour,

But friendship may forever flower;

Friendship by one is an unerring gift,

Passion’s targets can never shift;

Friends might only rarely greet,

But each one’s presence is often a treat;

Friendship to one is endless treasure,

The fruits of which are beyond measure;

Friends might not for long meet,

But those memories shall remain sweet;

Friendship of one is another’s gift,

A bridge of passion across the rift;

Friends may not walk side by side,

Yet in memory always walk astride;

Friends’ bonds others cannot sever,

Not thus now but thus forever.
