The sun glinted on the shiny chrome of the powder blue Nissan. The car was twisting down the curvy hill of Wiggin's Hill, just at the edge of the country. The driver was experienced. The car window was down and the radio was singing country music; a fellow singing about his girlfriend. If you really want to know who was in that car, keep reading...but if you continue, don't stop!
Chapter 1 Edit
The driver was a seventeen-year-old girl. She had auburn hair with a few blond streaks at her scalp. Her eyes were the color of a lagoon and her skin was a creamy color. She had a soft smile on her face as she drove. She hummed along with the music. When she reached the bottom of the hill, her cellphone burbled. She pulled over and yanked it out of her jeans pocket. The caller ID said "Cal." The girl chuckled and flipped open the red object.
"Hey Callie," our heroine said cheerily.
"Effie! You won't believe this! You just won't!" Callie shrieked, forcing Effie to pull the phone from her ear.
"Okay, I trust you. Just tell me what's up!" Effie giggled, knowing very well that this news would be all over town by tomorrow.
"Oh my gosh, Tess got a scholorship to culinary school! Isn't that great?"
Effie's face fell. She didn't say anything. The two girls listened to each other breathing.
"Uh, Effie, are you there?"
Effie sighed. "Yeah, I'm here."
"Then why don't you say anything? I mean, we are wasting cell phone minutes here? Well, you are. I'm on the portable, so that means I am wasting home portable phone battery juice whatchamacallit, but anyway, aren't you happy for her? I mean it's always been her dream to be around food 24/7!"
Effie forced a laugh. "Your right. That is her dream come true! I hope that she'll bring home samples for us and not hog it all!"
"Yeah, like she needs it!"
Effie heard a beep. "Hey, Callie, I have to go. I have another call beeping in."
"Okay girl. See ya later!"
Effie pressed the off button and waited for the phone to ring again. It rang loud and clear just a millisecond after she had finished talking to Callie. She pressed the small green phone on the button and held it up to her ear. "Hello?"
